Indonesia has made history with a record-breaking game ansembel angklung in a gymnasium in Beijing, China. A total of 5393 participants play angklung participated in the record-breaking attempt, which was held on Sunday, June 30, 2013.
According to the daily pages of People's Daily, July 1, 2013, shows it lasted for longer than 10 minutes with guided angklung players from Indonesia. They performed two songs, one of which is the creation of Michael Jackson, "We are the World," and a Chinese song "Moon is my witness".
The players each holding angklung that can only produce one sound only. So as to be able to display a full song with harmony, so every time the players shaking angklung then they should pay attention to the instructions given by the conductor.
Indonesian Ambassador to China Imron Cotan, said the record-breaking attempts this can be done thanks to the good cooperation between the Indonesian Embassy in Beijing with Indonesia-China Friendship Association. Besides the Chinese Embassy in Jakarta also helped record-breaking attempts.
Imron also said that through this activity will further strengthen the relationship between citizens and the cultural interaction between the people of China and Indonesia.
Previously, the record-breaking action has also been conducted in Washington DC, USA, in 2011 ago.
According to the official website of the Embassy of Indonesia to the United States, as many as 5,182 people consisting of Indonesian citizens and the United States gathered at the Washington Monument Grounds. Action angklung ensemble is led by the angklung group from Bandung, Daeng Udjo.
The result of action was successfully listed in the Guinness Book of World Records. Musical instrument Angklung is an instrument typical Indonesian native and has been listed on Unesco.
